Sarah has reflux

I took Sarah to the dr. today and she has pretty bad reflux. The pedi ENT i went to see gave her some Previcid and i give it to her daily for a month and then i go back for her to get another checkup. I sure hope and pray they don't have to put that snake looking scope back down her nose through her throat. THE SNAKE CAMERA WAS HORRIBLE! Sarah was so upset she turned completely RED to the point she looked like a RIPE RED APPLE!

Anyway i'm hoping that her reflux has a bit to do with the reason she doesn't eat much and still eats so many times per day. If i followed the normal guidelines the girls should only be eating about 4-5 times a day/night. They eat every 3, so they eat about 8 times give or take 1. I'll be really happy if previcid helps the pain and she eats more and less times. If this does work i'm going to do whatever i have to do to get Samantha some too....

Sarah slept through the NIGHT!!!

YAHOO! Sarah is finally getting accustomed to the schedule i put them on. She slept from 9p-340a! What a miracle! I never thought she'd be able to do it. I have heard a few scary stories about peoples twins taking a whole year to sleep through! I don't think that'll be us...or at least not ME! HA HA! Paul takes Sam at night and she's still taking a bit longer to sleep through. I guess that proves a point that cereal does not always really help them sleep through becuase i have never given Sarah a lick of cereal! Soo many people have told me to give them cereal...including my mom. Melody on the other hand started giving her girls cereal and Sydney slept 12 hours at night...maybe it depends on the baby.

I will update more as things happen. I'm just so extatic that i got some well deserved sleep last night...esp since during the day Sarah is so high maintenance and it's really hard for her to sleep the last hour of our 3 hour cycle of feed, play and sleep. I'm so excited that it's 4am and i'm WIDE AWAKE for the day!

Oh it's going to be a great FRIDAY!

We're putting the girls on a schedule

We've finally decided to give the girls a little "tough love". We are putting them on a schedule. It's just getting too hard to try to feed on demand now a days. I don't seem to ever have time to do anything other than sit on the couch and feed a baby. So as of 6p yesterday we've put them on a schedule. It's tough, and i know it will be for a few days...but it will get a LOT better soon. The girls did really good until the 3am feeding...that was pretty tough. THEN the 6am feeding was even HARDER for Paul becuase Sam really really wanted to eat. Anyway this morning at 9am was ok and they both ate 3ounces but i'm waiting for the hunger outburst to start again soon. :)

We are baptising the girls on april 21st. Steve, pauls brother is the God Father. My best friend Katie is the God Mother.

Lastly, Hannah is officially off her Paci. The other day she bit into one and showed it to me and told me she bit it. Yesterday for some reason i just decided to rip the tip off and give it back to her. She was really really MAD! I can't tell you how many times she threw it at me and how many hugs i had to give her to stop her from throwing anything she could find at me...but we are over that hump and she slept ALL night without it. She does keep asking for me to go buy her a new one...i've already told her they don't make that one anymore..which they really don't. And i think with time it will subside and she'll be just fine. WOW...how smooth of a transition that was. If i had known i definitely would have done it sooner. But perhaps it was so easy because anything is easy once you've raised two fussy twins! LOL!

Cross your fingers the girls do good on my schedule and that Hannah is finally over the paci frustration! :)

Dr. Appt

We took Sarah & Sam to the dr. today.

They are doing great.
Sarah weights 9.12 height 20 3/4 head 13.5
Samantha weights 10.2 height 20/12 head 14.5

We have to take Sarah to a pedi Ear Nose & Throat Dr. because of her crying while she eats. The dr. seemed to think it is reflux. Medoy knows all about reflux because Kately has it. She said it really sounds like Sarah has it. We have an appt for March 29th...can you believe that i had to wait FIVE WEEKS?? Crazy! Anyway other than that Sarah & Sam both have plugged up tear ducts and that is why they have eye boogies 24/7. I have to give them eye drops to get rid of the infection they have along with the plugged ducts. If they aren't better in 4 more months they will have to go to the eye dr. to have it checked out.

Other than that not much to report over here.
We did take the girls to dinner Sat night with my sister...BAD BAD idea. Sarah was a mess the entire time. It was horrible! I will probably never take them to dinner again if i can help it!

Lastly, Katie McDonald is going to be both girls God Mother and Steve(Pauls Brother) is going to be the girls God Father...i think i have made a great choice for both Katie and Steve.

The girls Weights

I weighted the girls today.

Samantha is a whopping 9.13lbs(yeah that's right almost 10lbs)
Sarah is a bit behind coming in at 9.5lbs but staying close behind her sister

Who would have known they'd be such great eaters considering little Ms. Hannah hated eating and never liked any foods i gave her either.

I'm so proud of my eaters...we really are blessed to have such good healthy babies!

Melodys babies

Everyone keeps asking about Melodys girls and i wanted to give a wonderful exciting update. Katelyn and Sydney are doing great. They have ECI(early childhood intervention) coming over once a week to help with all sorts of developmental things...but so far the girls are right on track with their adjusted age which is 6 weeks ahead of Sarah & Samantha. Melody thinks and we all hope the dr. has finally found an answer to Katelyns GI/Reflux problem. The dr. said her espohagus are irritated and that she needed to take out the feeding tube and give her new and adjusted dosages of medicine. She did and now katelyn is doing great. Melody took the tube out today and hasn't used it in 3 days and katelyn is taking right around 18 ounces a day which is great for her & without a feeding tube. Sydney is doing great and physically developing at her corrected age and sometimes even better. All in all the girls are doing great...and we are already trying to start planning some play dates for the summer after cold and flu season are over. I can't wait!

Sleeping

I'm probably going to jinx myself but today is a day of celebration!!! Sarah, who is my sleeping buddy, slept until 12:30a and then didn't wake up again till 5a! I'm sooo excited.

Pauls sleeping buddy, Samantha, slept from 9p to 3:30a without a feed!

I'm sure this was all a fluke. but if it's not, i'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!

Anyway, besides not sleeping through the night, the girls are doing very well. Both had a bit of a stuffy nose last week and i used those little nosey saline drops and they are both fine now.

Now if i could just get them on a schedule, i'd be in heaven.

Right now they usually feed at the same time...but that tends to literally be all day! It's really hard for me emotionally because i really just sit on the couch all day feeding them both. If they'd start to slow down some i could get a few things around the house done. Right now it's been so crazy i wasn't even able to get their announcements out. I just had them done this past weekend so everyone should be receiving them soon although if you are reading this you know anyway. Either way the lady did a wonderful job AGAIN on the cards. So far she has put together Hannah's first bday invites, our christmas card last year and now these announcements. She's just so much more creative than i am...

Lastly, Katie, Jaymie and I are semi planning a girls weekend down here. The rodeo fell through because everyone kinda dropped the ball on tickets. Katie couldn't get them,,,i don't think Jaymie could and no one ever said well lets just buy them and get it over with..i guess i could have just bought them myself, too. SO, as of right now Katie is planning on coming down the beginning of April. We haven't confirmed it with Jaymie yet because she is soo busy we hardly ever talk to her...but Katie said either way we'll just make plans and hope Jaymie is free. We are planning on meeting up with some of our old classmates from high school if all goes as planned. The only stipulation for me was that S & S had to be sleeping through the night so Paul wouldn't be miserable taking care of two girls half of the night.

Well that's it for now...i will update with more pics soon!

You all wouldn't believe how big the girls are now. The girls are definitely starting to look more like infants than just blobs. They are very alert...love to play on their gymnis and swings...the only problem is that they aren't that big on walks. I'm going to have to change that soon so i can start walking and loose some of this baby weight. :)

Identical Twins

I forgot to add that Sarah & Samantha are definitely identical twins. When i went to the dr. Tuesday i found out that the hospital had done a test on the placenta just to make sure the girls were identical although my dr. was 99% sure at 8 weeks of gestation. Anyway, YES, they are identical twins. I asked him if he was sure because now that i see them everyday i can tell them apart as Sarah has a small head & Sam has a big head. Anyway, he said as they get older they will definitely look more alike just because right now they are growing at different rates etc.

Samantha & Sarah weights

I have great news...i just weighted Sam and she is 8.5 & 1/2 lbs. I can't believe it! She is such a big girl.Sarah weights 8.2lbs and really catching up with Sam quickly! Who would have known they'd put on so much weight soo quickly.

We had a bad bad day yesterday...actually Paul and Julia did b/c i had to go to the dr. for my 6 week checkup. Anyway when i got home it was a circus in the house...Sarah was crying uncontrolobaly(spelling). Anyway i'm not sure what was wrong...i pray she doesn't have colic but she sure is a fussy baby. She cries a lot more than Hannah ever cried.

We are talling up the amount of food the girls eat because i do believe they are over eating which could be why they cry so much in the afternoon... I will put the totals up tomorrow!

The Girls Weights

I surprisingly gave the twins baths today. Boy is that hard work. Sarah actually loved the bath today while Sam HATED it and cried the whole time. Anyway, i weighted the girls. As of last friday Sarah was 6.15 and Sam was 7.1. Now Sarah is 7.2 & Sam is 7.5. They are both putting on weight really well thank goodness. I can't believe it but Sam is now the height and weight Hannah was when she was born. Thats all for now...

Update on girls

The girls are doing great. We took them to the dr. on Friday(NO, i did NOT go alone i picked Paul up on the way for much needed help) and they had their one month check up. They are doing great.

Samantha is: 7.1lbs
Sarah is: 6.14lbs

They are both about the same height and both in the 5th percentile for their age and weight. The dr. said that she will be surprised if they aren't sleeping longer in the next few weeks. If my memory serves me correctly i think Hannah was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks...Oh gosh i could use some sleep and that would be better than anything else in the world at this point. But at the same time i know we are so blessed and that with such great healthy babies i'm ok with what we've been given and if they don't sleep through the night soon we'll both be ok just tired and grumpy. :) The best part is that they are both growing like weeds and eating like vultures which is nice and making this a little less stressful.

I think that's it for now...i will write more as soon as things start slowing down around here. If you could see us in the morning you'd think we were a circus act in the barnum and bailey circus between crying hungry babies and Hannah riding her bike around the house with all the bad weather we've had in the past few weeks and not being able to leave the house.

Haven't updated in a while

I haven't updated in a while so i thought i'd keep everyone up to date on Sarah and Samantha and life here with 3 beautiful girls and absolutely no sleep.

First of all the girls are all doing pretty good. We did have to take Sarah to the dr. friday because she has had a bit of jelly looking blood in her stools. The dr. seems to think it's a fisher tear down below and that it should be ok soon. I'm hoping that is what it is...but i still have my doubts just because it's not really blood but more like currant jelly looking stuff. We are monitoring her very closely and just playing the waiting game to see. The dr. seemed to believe that if it was something worse, she'd be tender in her belly. which so far she is not. Other than that Sarah is doing great. I weighted her today and she weights right at 6lbs which is really great! I'm not real worried about her weight because she is eating like a little piggy. They eat all day and on a good night they eat every 4 hours...on a bad night they eat every 2-3 hrs. It's weird and different how they eat so much compared to sweet little Ms. Hannah that has never really liked to eat. I even remember one time getting really worried and taking Hannah to the dr. when she was a tiny baby because she wasn't eating much. Not the case with these girls. Funny but i can already tell what kind of personality sarah is going to have. She is very needy and wants to be held ALL DAY long. She whines about the smallest thing and is a houdini that can get out of her burrito wrap no matter how tight paul wraps her.

Sam, on the other hand is very laid back. She weight 6lbs too and has really caught up with her sister very fast. She is doing great and we haven't had any issues with her thank goodness. Her peronality is great and if we had two of her we probably wouldn't even know we had two infants around the house. She is calm, quiet and can stare at you all day and not cry unless she is hungry. She cries a bit when she's hungry but NOTHING compared to Sarah who screams at the top of her lungs like she's hurting badly every time she gets hungry.

Before i forget, here is a link to the pic we had taken of the girls at the hospital for their first photo. The doll in the middle was the first doll the received from their aunt jennifer and cousin Allison. I think they look like little cabbage patch dolls in this pic.

Check out the pic and be sure to sign the web nursery book.

Hannah is doing great and just really really loves her sisters. She kisses them and holds their hands all day long. It's really the cutest thing i've ever seen and she is just soo sweet to both girls. I just can't wait till their all old enough to interact together...it's going to be so much fun!

I think that's it for now. Sorry it's taken me so long to update with more info. Of course raising two babies is really hard and i hardly have time to even eat during the day when paul is at work and i'm here with all three girls. I definitely think i'm taking this much easier than i did with Hannah. Even with being doubly sleep deprived i'm not so scared and anxious, as i was when Hannah was born.

Hope everyone had a wonderful XMAS & Happy New Year. I will keep in touch more often once things settle down a bit.

Love,
Brenda

New blog site coming soon!

I'm going to create a new blog very soon because Paul said it's not just the Myerstwins anymore...but now it's the myers family! As soon as i get the new site up and running i will add a link to this blog.

By the way we went to the dr. today. The girls are doing really well except for Sarah loosing a bit more weight than we expected.

The girls weights are as follows:
Sarah birth weight: 5.11 and current weight is 5.4
Samantha birth weight: 5.7 and current weight is 5.7

I think the weight loss has something to do with the twin to twin transfusion but we're not sure. Sarah was the receiving twin while Samantha was the donating twin. So i think that perhaps because Sarah had so much blood, the blood may be breaking down and causing her to loose weight. Not for sure though.

Other than that the girls are doing great...lots of eating, sleeping and pooping!

I will keep you updated when i change the site.

By the way our contractor did disappear. I'm still just amazed that someone could do something so horrible to a family with brand new babies coming home! Paul has called him constantly called him since the day after xmas and no return calls. We are taking him to court and trying to get out of our contract asap so we can hire a new contractor to finish up. I have not one good thing to say about the contractor. he ruined so many things in our house it was a living nightmare! He even left the bathroom all opened up to the outside & our bedroom so it was like living outside when you walked into that side of the house. Luckily Paul and my dad sealed the bedroom up today so that we don't have a draft with the girls & ourselves right down the hall.
We found out today that the contractor has one case pending against him for deceptive practice, one case he lost and has to pay but has yet to pay and who knows how many other lawsuits against him! The lawyer said we have to write him a letter with what is left to do and what he has done and give him 10 days to respond and come back and if he doesn't we can fire him, the contract is void and we can get a new contractor. Then we'll go back after him for more money to pay for the mess.

A Couple of Pics of My Twins & my Precious Hannah

The Twins are here!

The girls are finally here and doing great! I can hardly contain my happiness for my instant gigantic family. I just know the big guy upstairs was watching out for Paul, the girls and I. They are very healthy and probably eat more than Hannah eats which is really really exciting considering how hannah never wanted to eat and still doesn't really like to eat.

So far we were able to figure out who was who but now we're having a bit of problems because Sarah is starting to lighten up. We did find that Sarah has a little bump in her ear lobe and Sam doesn't have one...so that will be our way of identifying them for a bit.

When they were born Sarah was really red/purple and we didn't really know why. My dr. came in yesterday morning and told me the reason she was so red and Samantha was so light was because they were getting the twin to twin transfusion. That is why my dr. always does the c-sections so early. He believes as he's stated that the problems are greater past 36 weeks.

Anyway thankfully we caught it before it was bad and the worst case seneraio would be that Sarah's billi would be elevated and have to be under the light for a bit. We should know the numbers sometime today.

I think that's it for now. I will write more after we get home from the hospital.

Christmas Eve

Well It's Christmas eve and Paul and I decided to stay home and not go to my sisters for our annual Christmas Eve get together. We did send Hannah with My sister and i just called to check on her and she is having a BLAST. I feel bad not to be there with her...but i'm really trying to take it easy the next 1.5 days that i have left. I'm doing good so far and the good part is that my dr was out of town this weekend but said he'd be back monday so i'm pretty sure if something happened now he'd be able to deliver the girls. I just couldn't believe he had plans for the weekend with me being so pregnant! Just kidding!

I'm still in shock that it's so close. I talked to my friend Melody last night and both girls are finally home and doing fairly well. Katelyn has some major reflux problems but we are all hoping with time she'll grow out of it. She is on some medicine right now and a feeding tube through her nose as well. Melody really only uses the feeding tube at night because otherwise it takes her soo long to eat. Please pray for Katelyn and Melodys family that she gets better and out grows the reflux quickly.

Anyway I wanted to wish everyone a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and update one last time before the big day.

Our Last Dr. Appt! YEAH!!

Well we went to the dr. today thinking in the back of our mind that we may be having a c-section today. Not the case. The dr. checked and everything looked really well...the fluid was fine and the girls are both very active. He said we should go ahead and wait until Tuesday for the c-section. I'm happy but so uncomfortable. The good thing is that Hannah and Paul will have more time to get better since they are both fairly sick. I took Hannah to the dr. today and they gave her a shot to get her well asap...i kinda asked for a shot because i really want her well. I also made Paul go to the dr. because he has a HORRIBLE cough...i keep telling him he sounds like a 100 year old man that's smoked his entire life :) The dr. gave him some medicine keep me quiet but told him not to take it unless he had to...so he's refused and i'm pretty upset with him.

On another note:
The house is a mess...yesterday the contractor's workers left the gate open and sugar ran away. We came home and searched for 4 hours and made 80 leaflets to put in neighbors mail boxes...and finally right across the street we heard a yapping that sounded like sugar. I drove by and sure enough she got into our neighbors back yard while they have the garage and side door open. Then they didn't realize she was there and shut the door and she was stuck. Paul was so mad he fired the contractor and said don't come back until you find my dog. Fortunately we found her and they can get some work done sometime soon. The contractor told Paul i scared the living daylights out of them because i yelled at them and told them to get out. The didn't come back today and we've kinda given up all hope. The contractor has failed 4 inspections on the framing and who knows when they will actually pass. They have ruined our brand new carpet in our bedroom and that whole side of the house stinks like dirty icky carpet. Obviously the contractor just doesn't care one bit about us and we've just given up . He even went to the extent that he asked paul if we could just blow off the inspections...Paul said NO WAY! Anyway that's the news on our mess of a house...I'm guessing it may be done by the end of January if we're lucky. I'm really upset because i don't want a whole bunch of weird people coming in our house while i'm taking care of the girls...but what can you do when you hired the worst contractor there is in houston?

All in all things could be worse and we're going to have a wonderful december 26th if all goes well. Paul will post pics of the girls i'm guessing by noon on that day. The c-section is scheduled for 10am and then dr. said it'll take no longer than an hour total.

Please keep our family in your prayers that everything goes smoothly and that the girls are healthy and we don't have any problems taking them so soon!

Merry Christmas,
Brenda

Dr. appt 12/13

We went for yet another dr. appt today. He checked the fluid in the sacks and the movement of the babies. He told me i have very active babies...i think that's a good thing? He said they both look great and everything was a ok so far. I also had to have a strep b test done today. I didn't think if you have a c-section you could pass it on to the babies...obviously you can since they gave me the test. Next he told me to pack my bag just in case we could go straight to the hospital. I can't believe the time is flying by so quickly.

Lastly i'm still sick so he did decide to give me a zpac to knock out the congestion etc.. He said he'd hate for me to be sick and try to have a baby. That makes two of us.

That's it for now...this weekend our plan is to pack up everything...put the car seats in the car...get down all the impt stuff we need for the girls etc.

O yeah the contractor said that the bathroom should be done by next friday...i'm not going to hold my breath on that one. He just got red tagged today(he has to pay a fine and go down to the city and resubmit his premit) because he still didn't do anything that was asked of the inspector from last thursday when the inspector came by. UGH...is this nightmare ever going to end???

Dr. Appt today

We went to the dr. today despite the fact that i'm really sick. Obviously i have gotten whatever my poor baby has had for a few days now. She's got a really bad croupy cough and i took her to the dr. Monday and the dr. said it was croup. With her medicine issues i've had to give her "presents" every time i want her to take medicine. I never in my wildest dreams thought i'd have to coax her into taking yummy cherry medicine but she just won't take it willingly. Her presents usually consist of a different chap stick/lip smacker that i have a stash of in a drawer.

As for my dr. appt. It went really well. The girls weight the following:
Baby A weights 4.7lbs
Baby B weights 4.12lbs

That totals over 9lbs in my big ole belly. I can't believe it...2lbs more than when i had Hannah. Maybe that is why i can hardly walk these days and my pelvis hurts so bad i can hardly get up off the couch which is where i sit all day long.

He said Baby B is REALLY active and Baby A is a bit calmer. I wonder if there personalities will reflect that when they get here? Hmm...

The dr. also checked my fluid and everything seems to be going just fine. The next two appts and ultra sounds will only consist of vital/fluid checks because the babies are big enough now to where he won't worry anymore.

I think that's it for now...by the way i'm already so big the only thing that fits me is pauls 2x t-shirts and those are even tight. If anyone has any suggestions about what the think i may be able to put together as an outfit let me know...otherwise i think i'm going to be wearing pjs' all day and perhaps some moo moo's when i go out... LOL
